Redbreast 12 Year Irish Whisky

Ah, Redbreast! Among the very best of Irish whiskies, it's amazing I haven't reviewed it yet. Same goes for Green Spot / Yellow Spot.

Aged for twelve years in a combination of bourbon and sherry casks, triple distilled, this is exceptionally smooth and easy going:

Nose: Spicy - initial notes of ginger and baking spices like cloves. Baked pale fruit. Faint hint of something dry like young leather.

Mouthfeel: Very silky, oily, easy.

Palate: Pear and white wine, white chocolate, almonds, notes of red sherry fruit, hints of coffee, more spices. Surprisingly complex. Whispers of smoke!

Finish: Milk chocolate, oak wood, sweet pepper. Very long.

Verdict: Delectable. Really a strong contender in the world of Irish whisky. Rich, complicated, delicious, always easy and elegant. Highly recommended!
